Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Virscend University's MBA program is a 2 year full-time course. How long is the F1 visa valid before the 3 year opt?

A: Virscend's MBA program is split into Fall and Spring semesters with Summers off. International students will automatically have one year of OPT, but can apply for the two year extension when their OPT is almost complete. In order to be eligible, the student must maintain their F-1 status and complete the program.

Q: What is the minimum number of courses (credits) that F-1 students are required to take in each semester?

A: MBA F-1 students will take three courses (9 credits) per semester for the first three semesters of the program. They will take one course (3 credits) during their last semester, but can also take two additional elective courses (6 credits) if there is enough demand.

BS F-1 students are required to take a minimum of 12 units per semester in order to keep their full-time F-1 status.

Q: Can full-time F-1 students skip summer courses and have vacation during summer?

A: Since our program is only Fall and Spring semesters, students are allowed to take vacation during the Summer. However, if they will be traveling outside of the US, they will need to get their form I-20 endorsed by us for them to return back to the US.

Q: Can students have internships instead of project management courses after summer? In this case, are students still F1 status and have the same 3 year opt later?
A: A student can choose to get an internship to replace the project in the course capstone class. However, choosing the internship option does not mean it replaces the class as a whole, they will still need to attend any scheduled meetings. If the student exceeds 12 months of full-time CPT, they will become ineligible to apply for OPT once they have completed the program. A student can do part time CPT, 20 hours or less a week, and still be eligible for OPT.

Q: How long does it take to receive I-20 after submitting an application?
A: Once a student has completed all of their application documents, we can give them an admission decision as soon as 24 hours after. We can issue the I-20 for a student as soon as 24 hours after they are accepted into our program. Please keep in mind that once a student receives their I-20, we cannot control how fast the visa application process can take as it varies between countries.

Q: When is the due date or do you have a particular period for registration and tuition fee?
A: Registration opens two weeks prior to the start of every semester. International students will be required to register and pay (tuition and the registration fee) one week prior to the start of classes.
